Learn Blacksmithing From Home
A step-by-step apprenticeship that takes you from complete beginner to confident maker.
You’ve probably watched videos, read forums, and looked at tools, but it’s hard to know what actually matters. Most beginners waste money, get stuck, or quit early because they don’t have a clear path.
This program gives you that path.

By the End of This Course You Will…
• Work confidently with hot steel instead of guessing at temperatures
• Shape metal accurately and repeatably, not just by luck
• Punch, cut, and join pieces with clean results
• Make and heat-treat your own blacksmithing tools
• Forge weld multiple parts into a single structure
• Read a simple drawing and build it correctly
• Understand why your work succeeds — and how to fix it when it doesn’t
Most importantly:
You won’t just be following instructions anymore — you’ll understand the material well enough to design and create projects on your own.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need prior experience?
No. This program is designed for complete beginners. We start with fundamentals and build skills step-by-step so nothing assumes previous knowledge.
What tools do I need?
You can begin with a simple setup — a small forge, a hammer, a striking surface/anvil, and basic safety gear. We guide you on what to buy and when so you don’t waste money on unnecessary equipment.
What's the time commitment like?
Plan on about 2–4 hours per week. Some weeks you’ll practice more, some less — the program is structured so steady progress matters more than speed.
What if I fall behind?
No problem. The lessons are self-paced, so you can move forward whenever your schedule allows.
Do I need a large workshop?
No. Many students work in a garage, driveway, or small backyard setup. We show safe ways to organize a compact workspace.
Will I actually be able to make things or just follow along?
You’ll be building real projects and learning the principles behind them so you can design your own work — not just copy demonstrations.
Is this suitable for kids?
The program is designed for adults and teens with supervision. Younger students should work alongside a parent or experienced adult.
Can I ask questions and get feedback?
Yes. You’ll have access to support where you can ask questions and get guidance when you’re stuck.
What materials will I need?
You can choose to purchase all of the project materials through our website, or we will provide exact sizes and sourcing guidance for each project.
What happens after I finish?
You’ll have the skills to continue building projects independently and the foundation to pursue more advanced work like blades, hardware, or artistic ironwork.
You'll also be able to join our membership community to continue to get project ideas and more content monthly.
Who is this program NOT for?
This program probably isn’t a good fit if:
- You’re only looking for entertainment without practicing between lessons
- You want fast results without repetition and patience
- You don’t have a safe place to work with hot metal
- You prefer watching rather than building along
Blacksmithing is a hands-on skill — progress comes from doing, not just observing.
